We intend to send regular news and updates about the glazing sector (particularly relating to consumer protection issues, which is our sphere of expertise) to installers, extruders, fabricators and stakeholders operating in the glazing sector as a whole.
DGCOS and our associated companies (more on them later) believe that providing a systematic, robust, well thought out consumer protection journey (with all the loopholes where consumers are disadvantaged taken out) can assist in enhancing consumer confidence in the home improvement installation sectors
Anyway, some of you may be thinking that DGCOS has been quiet in the last few years.
Well, we certainly have been busy in the Consumer Protection landscape across the whole of the home improvement sector. There are now 35 full-time employees here at our offices in Leyland, providing dedicated support
Recent Achievements and our Associated Companies
Whilst DGCOS was the forerunner in terms of setting the standards for consumer protection schemes, we certainly haven’t stood still. In recent years we have established consumer protection schemes operating in the renewable sector, the home insulation sector, the mobility sector and the whole home improvement sector and have established our own Certification Scheme and Energy Performance Validation Scheme.
In addition to that our renewable scheme, HIES, achieved membership of the prestigious Chartered Trading Standards Institute Consumer Codes Approval Scheme and is now a Chartered Trading Standards Consumer Code.
Another big achievement is the establishment of our own UK based insurer (specialising in Deposit Protection and IBG’s) which has been authorised by The Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) with full access to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) and the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).
Recent DGCOS Appointments
DGCOS have recently appointed Brian Smith (ex GGF Membership Director) as a Strategic Consultant.
DGCOS have also recently appointed Adrian Simpson (Former Chartered Trading Standards Institute Services Director) as our Assistant Director of Consumer Policy and member advisor on Trading Standards issues.
